Thoughts about my own death
P ou sound shocking or annoying to talk about the death of oneself, but it is an absolute truth that we all die. For the last few days of reflection to be completed this year and take stock of what I did, I did, I wanted to do and will prob-ably, I have also thought of my death. I think of things I want and I want when I die, that things go as I want my family depends on to enforce them. First of all I want to donate my organs to save life or for scientific research, then after that I want my remains be cremated and my ashes thrown away in a river, sea or what my child wants. I do not want funerals, religious rites of any kind, do not want a priest praying around me (and I do not account), I do not want a grave where I will mourn later, I do not want flowers (if they are going to give me, give it to me before I die) is meaningless when no flowers can enjoy.
Many people say that when an atheist is about to die he repents and calls God. I hope that never happens and if it happens it is because I am not aware of me and my brain is definitely dying. I hope when you see spots of light will not let me be dominated by fear and if I can realize what happens, remember they are only the neurons that are spreading. I hope God never appointed, except to say that I will not accept its existence and is suffering greatly. I hope not to have a person around me praying for me to go to heaven while still awake and listening, although my body is dying. And most importantly, I hope I have done and experienced everything I wanted before he died.

And Christmas?
E s possible Atheist Christmas?. Sounds a bit strange to mix the two terms, because Christmas brings an implicit religious celebration. So much has changed in recent years this tradition that its true origin and meaning every time you lose more.
I remember in my childhood I always liked Christmas, by singing, sharing with family, eat desserts, gifts. The ugly part was the rezadera, but that was compensated after the games and the food.
Today, Christmas has lost that essential character, because I do not expect gifts, I still like to share with family and I think that's what makes it worthwhile. The traditions have changed a little over the years. When my son was little armed the traditional nativity scene and of course the tree. Decorations and lights were placed, as we learned when we were "grafted" by the Catholic customs. As time goes on unless I follow the traditions. This year for example my husband and children put together the tree. Rarely participate in this, because I find little sense, but for the child is all fun, so why keep it. For several years giving away the crib and some ornaments, because the truth is, that if I no longer wanted him to measure. I make Christmas decorations for fun, I think it's nice tablecloth, the table with individual beautiful and best of all, the ornaments I make myself, so rather than maintain a tradition is a hobby that I love.
is traditional in my country begin to pray the novena from 16 December to 9 days to 24 to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Each day of the novena, praying and singing carols, then shared a dessert, cookies and wine. I never organized a novena the time to participate in any was when I was invited and they obviously do not pray, or participate in the prayers, I just sit quietly, observe and respect all what my family, my son does the same. On December 24 we do is deal and open presents between family, after wishing us a happy Christmas at midnight, those who most enjoy because they are children, the gifts are for them always. After dinner usually accompanied by cold turkey or meat sauce and a salad special. Children playing, adults talking, others dance, drink, etc. After each home for a barbecue the next day where possible, if you do not get up late and lazy all day, for what the late-night.
What we have done since last year was go to the city to a nearby town where hot enough and spend Christmas in a pool. I think it's the best you can do this year will do the same, and we rented a house for a family break to go and share away from noise and cold of the city.
So it is possible Atheist Christmas?. I think my Christmas is as godless as the family tradition allows. I do not think one day stand up and say that I will be apathetic to Christmas, do not share with my family, do not give gifts to my son, I go to bed early, while others have fun and share. There can be no atheistic Christmas, because we are so surrounded traditions that sometimes can not be set aside. Talves in some years lost more magic this time, perhaps they in some years when some of my family is gone, when my child is an adult, when things change and traditions when they no longer have to share with, when the city does not is illuminated by miles of colors and when you do not hear the fireworks. Meanwhile this is the most atheist I can have at Christmas. But most importantly, respect the traditions and share with my family does not make my thoughts and atheistic ideas change. "Amen ".... hehehehe.
